My Dad, Clarence Nason Spears Sr., b. 1917 - d. (way too soon - fatal stroke) 1961.  This photo was taken in France during the war in the 1940s. 

After the war, Dad met my Mom *Irene Carter Jordan, b. 1927 - d. 2008*, at Ft. Meade, MD (where they both worked).  They married in 1951, had five children between 1952 and 1960 (before his sudden death in January of 1961).  I was the middle child - just shy of 5 years old when he died.  I remember just a few things about him, my two younger sisters have no memory of him at all.
